Why did I start IRIDIUM Gift Box?
I have been in the cycling industry for over 40 years. It all started in the early 80’s as a kid racing his BMX bike. That led me down the path to road racing, mountain bike racing, cross bike racing, and gravel bike adventuring. Over those 40+ years, I have had many special occasions, birthdays, and Christmas’ go by with friends and family buying me gifts for my various cycling interests at the time. (Now don’t get me wrong, I appreciated all the cycling gifts and the thoughts that went into them.) But to be honest, many of my friends and family just didn’t know what I needed or used. Sadly, many of those gifts I received over the years, went into a drawer or tucked away under my stairs never to appear again. The fact was, my non-cycling friends and family just didn’t know what I truly needed. And most likely they struggled with what to get me.
Buying a gift for a cyclist can be a stressful experience. Questions such as: What do they already have? What do they need? What size do I get? Will this even fit on their bike? Is this item something they will even use? So many questions and if you’re not an avid cyclist it can be next to impossible to get these questions right. Doing a search on the Internet, and typing in a phrase like “gifts for cyclist” will open up multiple pages with an overwhelming amount of products to sift through. And most of the gift ideas are usually products that are more of a gimmick item then actual useful items. For example, it’s nice to have a pizza cutter in the shape of a bike, or a key chain that says, “I love bikes”, but novelty gifts like these only go so far. I invite you to do an Internet search yourself and see the list of novelty items that pop up.
This is where the idea of IRIDIUM Gift Box came from. I wanted to offer a person looking to buy a gift for a cyclist the option to:
1. Purchase a quality gift box filled with numerous useful cycling items.
2. Make the gift process as simple as possible. Select between 2 gift boxes. Road bike cyclists or mountain bike cyclists.
3. Make the items inside, not only essential cycling items, but universally useful. I did my best to select items that are colour neutral, not size specific, and will be used on a day to day basis by the vast majority of all cyclists who receive an IRIDIUM gift box.
4. Finally, I wanted this gift box to be affordable. At $99.99 CAD, I was able to include 7/8 useful cycling products that save my buyers 40% off of the Suggested Retail Prices.
So the IRIDIUM Gift Box was born. No more guesses on a cycling gift. An easy to purchase cycling gift box you can feel confident they will use and appreciate.
